Pro-Black and Anti-Obama?

The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama has caused a resurgence in black on black crime.  On one black blog, President Obama was described as a “scumbag” and a “White House Negro”. Wow.

At first, I thought these blog drive-bys were genuine attempts to express disappointment in President Obama’s policy shifts.  He recently backtracked on the Israeli / Palestinian issue, Darfur, and Afghanistan.

But then I remembered, I’ve heard many of these same nasty insults whispered about President Obama long before his policy positions began to waiver – they’re just louder now.    The Pro-Black, Anti-Obama crowd is somehow emboldened by his Nobel Prize win.

Many of his attackers describe the award as premature and, although I disagree, I understand that argument.  What I don’t understand however, are the self haters who refer to President Obama as a “House negro” or “uncle tom”.  There’s no getting around the fact that these incendiary remarks allude to President Obama’s appearance, his light skin and wavy hair.

During slavery, white plantation owners picked a few slaves to work in the house instead of the field.  The chosen few were often offspring of “master” and as such, fair-skinned with wavy half-breed hair.

Since that time, there has been an undercurrent of divisiveness in the African American community between “House Negroes” and “Field Negroes”.  For years, darker skinned blacks resented blacks with lighter complexions because they were treated differently by the white community.  We still joke about whose in style at the moment, dark or light, Morris Chestnut or Shemar Moore?

The Willie Lynch strategy of dividing blacks by shade has never gone away, but it had become a joke.  Now though, the black Obama detractors have breathed new life into the Willie Lynch Strategy of divide and conquer. Instead of having honest policy discussions about President Obama, they adopt the strategy of the oppressor, indirectly mocking President Obama’s virtue by way of his physical connection to white America, made apparent by his physical features.

The attempts to humiliate President Obama highlight black America’s political naivete.  We may have overcome bondage, slavery, and segregation, but we’ve yet to overcome our own internal demons.  Willie Lynch is alive.  The seed he planted centuries ago is watered anew by black people who use racist dysphemisms to tear down the first black President.

So true. I’ve been hesitant to metion it bc I thought it was just a passing fad. seems though it’s stil here. funny thing iz a lot of these “critisizers” as you call them, believe that they are being highly intellectual. would jews do this to the first jewish president? we are crabs in a barrel

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with this issue. But I would beg to differ on one important point, I don’t think it’s mostly americans or those indigenous to america who hate obama so i don’t think willie lynch model necessarily applies. from what i see, it’s mostly criticism from the african diaspora, not the indigenous community. i ‘ve never agreed with george bush when he said people who attacked us on 911 were “jealous of our freedom”/ thought it was absurd. but i do believe the black diaspora is jealous of our president and african american’s prominent role in the international community. so they attack obama……sad bc many of the attacks are from africans and Obama’s a son of africa..
