President Obama campaigned on a platform which promised transformational change. Those of use who voted for him are disappointed with the fact that Obama isn’t fighting to implement the very ideas which were pillars of his campaign.

For example, let’s take a look at the issue which dominated Obama’s entire first year in office – health care. First off, let me just say that the man appears extremely ineffective in that he spent an entire year (25% of his term) on one issue. However, if he’d been successful, it would’ve been all worthwhile. But as things stand, the bill will be a watered down, perfunctory, health care reform bill. Americans will still pay 10 times more for drugs than our neighbors to the north and most European countries.

In addition, Obama never pushed for universal coverage. Instead, he allowed Congress to write a bill which included a watered down alternative, the “public option”. But guess what, even that was shot down by conservatives in Congress. And no one knows where Obama stands on either issue because he’s yet to locate his backbone and actually fight for anything. If he doesn’t find a backbone soon, he’ll go down as was of America’s greatest disappointments..
