Islam and Obama

As we all know, President Obama is touring the Muslim world today. He is doing well and receiving much praise but my fear now, as it always has been, is that the Palestinian – Israeli conflict will overshadow any other overtures he may make or olive branches he may extend.
Israel’s Netanyahu has already expressed his objections to Obama’s initial request, an end the building of Israeli settlements. Although many Israeli supporters agree with Obama’s move, Netanyahu has already voiced his resistance to any of Israel’s “natural growth” policy. How can there ever be peace if there can never be any real negotiation? And how can the Muslim world trust Obama if he cannot stand up to Netanyahu?
They would trust him more if he orders the Predator drones to destroy the Jewish settlements, as he does to kill so-called “Muslim terrorists” and any other men, women and children also in the vicinity.

I agree wholeheartedly. The problem is that the pro-Israel lobby is so powerful and so entrenched, it’s hard for any President to ever be a fair arbiter where this conflict is concerned.
