Right here, right now.
Stop struggling to get out of the moment you’re in by forcing yourself into what you believe would be a more beneficial space. Be who you are, where you are, right now so that you may totally experience the spectrum of emotions which are racing through your head and heart.
You can’t wish it away, and I’m sorry to tell you that everything you’ve been told about sadness in terms of how to react to it is 100% false. It’s not about exercising, or getting a hobby to change your focus. It’s about fully relaxing into the sadness (which is true for any degree of pain) and know that regardless of how you feel now, the sadness exists to teach you and it too is transient.
In any situation, always remember that change is the only constant.

Now that Democrats are discussing using the reconciliation process OR “deem” and “pass” to pass health care legislation, Republicans are hysterical. The truth, though, is that both parties have used reconciliation to pass policy changes. This is exactly why the hyperbolic hyperventilation by Republicans is all politics…. my thoughts?…CLICK HERE
Just Do It (and Change It)

Nike only had it half right. About 80% of life is about just showing up (or Just Do It), the other 20% is about changing destinations once you realize that you’ve arrived at the wrong location.
Those people who thrive in our society aren’t those who meet life head on, but those who flow with life and shift with the changing landscape.
So in order for you not to be just o.k. with your life , but successful, you must change your life analogy. It’s no longer o.k. to view life as a fight, or a battle. This only hardens your mindset, causing rigidity. Life, though, is not a dance either. Dancing, although fluid, is almost always jocular and carefree. Life, on the other hand, is not always any one thing.
Life must, instead, be viewed as a swim. Sometimes slow, sometimes rough, with the one constant being that those who wish to thrive must go with the flow.
Change your life’s analogy and change your life.
Dear Desperate Women: Gay Men Just Aren’t That Into You

Spotted this little lame homophobic nugget attendee of the annual CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) meeting and couldn’t help but comment.
At some point, lonely and dejected women across the globe must stop holding gay men responsible for their nights alone eating Ben and Jerry’s while watching “He’s Just Not That Into You.” And as the title of the aforementioned movie suggests, the problem is YOU, not gay men. And you can’t bully them into finding you sexually attractive, let alone loving you.
From the look on this woman’s face, one can detect that she feels a bit emboldened by the offensive bumper sticker she holds in her desperate little paws. In her little pea brain, she feels that her limited man choices are caused by the gays, not her own shallow pool of wifey qualities.
Well let me clear it up for you lady: YOU are the weakest link. Maybe, just maybe, if you spent more time being a creative, independent, free-thinking woman instead of paling around with right wingers at CPAC conferences, then you’d have more of a shot at love.
If you’re opposed to gay man love, then so be it. Last I heard, they weren’t recruiting you to be a part of their team. But before you attended the CPAC meeting, maybe you should’ve learned a thing or two about liberty and freedom. Freedom is my right, and the right of every gay man you pine for, to be left the hell alone. Nobody needs to see your little antagonistic desperate woman tag all over town.
Happy Belated Valentines Day!
Rachel Maddow, Meet the Press, and the Boy Who Should’ve Stayed Home

The way in which Rachel Maddow skewered Congressman Schock this morning on Meet the Press was stunning. Rachel diverted from the usual feigned politeness which we normally see on Sunday morning television in order to rail against Schock’s duplicity.
Maddow, not known for her shyness, lept at the opportunity to shine a spotlight on Congressman Schock’s hypocrisy as it relates to the Stimulus Bill. For those who don’t know, Schock was ‘against it before he was for it’. As Rachel pointed out, Schock went back home to his district and took credit for a stimulus project which he’d vehemently opposed while in Congress.
How did the young Schock (the name is just such a contradiction) defend himself? By basically saying that his community is entitled to the same pork that all other districts receive. This is what you call a man (boy) standing by his principles!

How Elitism is Destroying Obama’s Presidency

When President Barack Obama was accused of elitism during his campaign, I chuckled. How could the son of a single mother be more elite than the son of a four star admiral? John McCain, an underachieving, Naval Academy frat boy-esque boozer who graduated near the bottom of his class, used that claim against a wonkish, debt ridden, Harvard grad named SEE FULL POST AT SODAHEAD.COM
The False Liberal

While perusing Facebook this morning, I was struck by an article posted by one of my friends. The article was entitled, “One Year Out: President Obama’s Fall” and was written by conservative Charles Krauthammer. Enough said right? Krauthammer has never seen a liberal or moderate idea with which he could identify or give praise. In his feeble mind, the only good ideas are conservative ideas. I’m always bothered by people who can’t see outside their own ideologies and since Krauthammer is one of those people, my first impulse was to move on and scan past the article, maybe find a cool YouTube video. But alas, I was intrigued .. and then infuriated.
In the article, Krauthammer makes the argument that President Obama is failing not because of his accomplishments (or lack thereof) during his first year, but because he’s liberal. Now, those of us who are progressive see Krauthammer’s premise for what it is; a gargantuan pile of cow dung.
Krauthammer points to Obama’s health care initiative as one of many big liberal ideas which spooked America, turned them off, and caused Obama’s poll numbers to plummet. Bullsh*t.
If you didn’t know health care was on Obama’s agenda when he was elected, then you weren’t paying attention. The guy was honest about his intentions, he just hasn’t worked to bring them to fruition. This is an Obama failure, not a liberal failure.
If Obama were truly a liberal, he would’ve fought for universal health care, or at least a public option. But he hasn’t. In fact, he hasn’t worked to promote any truly liberal initiatives. This has disappointed liberals and is one of the key reasons why Obama’s poll numbers are plummeting among liberal voters.
So nice try Krauthammer. I know you hate liberals and would love nothing more than to wrap them up in President Obama’s failures. The problem is simply that it’s just not true. I guess it’s true what they say; the truth never gets in the way of a good story.
